Principal Software Engineer

Better Trucks Last Mile Inc. in Franklin Park, IL seeks Principal Software Engineer.

  • Design and construct major solutions, systems, and components that align with strategic goals.

Architectural Design and Construction:

  • Design and construct major solutions, systems, and components that serve our customers, employees, and partners.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, robust, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Cloud-Native Development:

  • Design and build custom solutions using cloud-native principles.
  • Leverage the low overhead elastic infrastructure of Google Cloud Platform to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.

Leadership and Team Guidance:

  • Provide leadership by example for multiple application development teams working across various applications and platforms.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient development environment.

Standards and Processes:

  • Create global standards and processes for Better Trucks Research & Development teams.
  • Ensure consistency and best practices across all development activities.

Strategic Collaboration:

  • Collaborate frequently with IT management and operational leadership to discuss roadmap, strategy, and execution.
  • Align IT initiatives with the evolution of Better Trucks’ business and organizational goals.

Must possess a Bachelors Degree in: Applied Computer Science, Computer Science,
Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related
field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related field.

Must also possess experience with:

(i) Creating, building, and deploying custom software applications on Google Cloud;

(ii) Architecting and developing cloud-native distributed systems and applications;

(iii) Leading and orchestrating software tasks across multiple software teams;

(iv) Designing, coding, and deploying front-end applications (mobile apps, web apps, and PWAs), focusing on intuitive UIs, cross-platform compatibility, performance optimization, and API integration;

(vii) Cloud-first, event-driven architecture for seamless data integration and real-time processing for distributed apps and systems;

(viii) Architecting apps and systems while utilizing patterns such as microservices, service mesh, event sourcing, and CQRS to enhance system scalability and maintainability;

(ix) 5 years of experience developing and building digital applications (mobile app, mobile web apps, PWA’s, etc); and

(x) 5 years leveraging enterprise programming languages such as Java and C#.

 

Salary: $150,000 to $180,000
